Christianity in Belgium is the most common religion in the country.
According to the 2010 , 6.86 million Christians lived in Belgium in 2010, accounting for 64.1% of the country's population [1] [2] . The Encyclopedia of “Religions of the World” by J. G. Melton estimates the share of Christians in 2010 at 82.1% (8.6 million believers) [3] .
The largest direction of Christianity in the country is Catholicism . In 2000, there were 5.3 thousand Christian churches and places of worship in Belgium belonging to 103 different Christian denominations [4] .
In addition to the main population of the country - Flemings and Walloons , the majority of Italians , French , Germans , Portuguese , Spaniards , English , Greeks , Romanians , Poles , etc. also profess Christianity.
Belgian Christians engage in interfaith dialogue. In 1990, a Consultation of Christian Churches of Belgium was created in the country, uniting Anglicans, Catholics, Orthodox and believers of the United Protestant Church of Belgium [5] . The conservative evangelical churches of Belgium are united in the Gospel alliance of Flanders, associated with the World Gospel Alliance.
