Christianity in Panama is the most common religion in the country.
According to the in 2010 there were 3.27 million Christians in Panama, who made up 93% of the country's population [1] [2] . The Encyclopedia of “Religions of the World” by J. G. Melton estimates the share of Christians in 2010 at 87.1% (3.06 million) [3] .
The largest direction of Christianity in the country is Catholicism . In 2000, there were 2.9 thousand Christian churches and places of worship in Panama belonging to 88 different Christian denominations [4] .
In addition to Panamanians , Jamaicans , Americans , French , Spaniards and Greeks living in the country profess Christianity. The local peoples - Guaimi , Kuna , Bribri , and also the majority of Vounaan and Nazo were converted to Christianity.
Christians of Panama actively participate in interfaith dialogue. In 1986, the Ecumenical Committee of Panama was created in the country, uniting at the present time Protestants , Catholics and Orthodox . Conservative evangelical Christians collaborate together in the Panama Gospel Brotherhood associated with the World Gospel Alliance .
