Aturnarse - may have been proclaimed king of kings ( shahinshah ) of Iran in the year 309 . From the Sassanid dynasty , the eldest son and heir to Ormizd II .
Reliable evidence of the Aturnarce board has not been preserved. It is said that Aturnarce was proclaimed king after the death of Ormisd II, and in a short period of time showed unprecedented ferocity, bringing down executions not only to know in general, but also to members of his family. In the end, he ordered the death of his father’s pregnant wife (or concubine). But by that time, the conspiracy had already matured at court, and Aturnarce was killed before this order was executed.
The Arab historian al-Tabari gives a completely different account of succession. According to him, Hormizd II died without leaving a son, and the Persian nobility chose Shapur II, who had not yet been born, the king.
“He died (Hormizd), not leaving a son. People grieved about it. In their love for the king, people asked about the state of his widow and heard that she was pregnant. Others say that Hormizd himself bequeathed the crown to an unborn child in the womb of his mother. And so the woman gave birth to a son — Shapur, the Man of the Shoulders. ” [1]
Perhaps the rules for several months. [2]
