Trigonopterus bornensis

Trigonopterus bornensis (lat.) - a species of weevils of the genus Trigonopterus from the subfamily Cryptorhynchinae ( Curculionidae ). Found on Kalimantan Island ( Indonesia , East Kalimantan Province, Tanjungredeb: 20–30 m) [1] .

Description

Small flightless weevils , length from 2.35 to 2.81 mm; mostly brown-black with a bronze tint (antennae lighter). The body is convex in profile. It differs from the closely related species Trigonopterus kalimantanensis in the structural details of the male genitalia. Wings are missing. Rostrum shortened, at rest does not reach the middle of the middle coxae. Elytra with 9 grooves. Claws of legs are small. In earlier works it was referred to as “Trigonopterus sp. 311 " [1] .

The species was first described in 2014 by German coleopterologist Alexander Riedel ; Museum of Natural History Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe , Germany , together with entomologists Rene Tänzler ; Zoological State Collection , Munich , Michael Balke ; GeoBioCenter, Ludwig-Maximilians-University , Munich, Germany ), Cahyo Rahmadi; Indonesian Institute of Sciences, Research Center for Biology, , West Java , Indonesia ), Yayuk R. Suhardjono ; Zoological Museum, Cibinong Science Center - LIPI, Jl. Raya Jakarta-Bogor, Indonesia), which carried out an audit of the fauna of beetles of the genus Trigonopterus on Java [1] .
