Dmitry Vladimirovich Sokolsky (1910-1987) - chemist, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR ( 1951 ), doctor of chemical sciences ( 1949 ), professor ( 1949 ), honored worker of science of the Kazakh SSR ( 1960 ), Hero of Socialist Labor ( 1969 ), laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR ( 1974 ), Honorary Doctor of the Budapest Polytechnic University ( 1975 ).

He created the theory of optimization of hydrogenation catalysts . He developed a potentiometric method for studying working catalyst electrodes.

Biography

He graduated from Moscow University in 1934 , graduate school in 1937 .

He worked at the Kazakh State University from 1937 to 1942 as an assistant professor , and then as vice-rector.

Since 1945 , deputy director of the Institute of Chemical Sciences, Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR . He was elected an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR and since 1965, vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. From 1969 until his death, director of the Institute of Organic Catalysis and Electrochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, which today bears his name.

Rewards

Hero of Socialist Labor (March 13, 1969) [1] . He was awarded the Order of Lenin (03/13/1969), two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor , the Order of Friendship of Peoples (04/03/1980) [2] , the Order of the Badge of Honor .
