Biography
Born in 1899 in Graz in an Austrian family. His parents were of normal height : father - 172, mother - 165 cm, brother also had a normal height.
In 1917, at the age of 18, Adam's height was 122.5 cm, as a result of which he was released from military service and was not called to war . Then, at 26, there was a sharp upsurge in Rainer's growth, so that in 1931 he reached a height of 218 cm. As a result of gigantism, he was bedridden and suffered from kyphosis . Adam Rainer had a tumor on the pituitary gland , which is why doctors explained such a growth spurt at the age when people usually stop growing. In 1930, the tumor was removed, but Adam continued to grow anyway, albeit more slowly [1] . Rainer also suffered from acromegaly with obvious signs: abnormally long arms and legs, protruding forehead and jaw, big lips and sparse teeth.
When he died on March 4, 1950 , his height reached 234 cm. After his death, he was cremated , the place of burial is unknown [2] .
