USA Hockey League

United States Hockey League (USHL ) - The main junior hockey league in the United States . The league winner is awarded the Clark Cup . The league is played by 17 teams located in the Midwest and consisting of players aged 16 to 20 years. Unlike the Canadian Hockey League , USHL does not pay scholarships to players who, because of this, retain their amateur status and are eligible to play at the National University Sports Association .

History

The US Hockey League was created in 1961. The following leagues formed the basis of this competition:

  • (1947-52)
  • Central Hockey League (1952-53)
  • Minnesota Hockey League (1953–55)
  • Central Hockey League (1955-60)

Members

In the 2014/2015 season, the same 17 teams will take part, divided into two conferences. The current Indiana Ice Champion will not be playing this season. The USHL put the team in the 2014/15 season at “dormant” status so that they could solve their organizational problems. At the same time, Indiana Ice remains a member of the USHL, is a member of its Council and has full rights to participate in the activities and operations of the league.
