Activities at the head of the GVKG them. N. N. Burdenko

Yu. S. Kravkov headed the Main Military Clinical Hospital. Academician N. N. Burdenko in 1973. The first years of his leadership confirmed the high level to which the hospital was taken out by his predecessors in this post - L. I. Lyalin, M. M. Gilenko, G. A. Ponomarev. In 1975, for the successful completion of tasks on the most important scientific and technical problems of the national economic plan of the GVKG named after N. N. Burdenko was recognized by the Central Committee of the CPSU , the Council of Ministers of the USSR , the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the Central Committee of the Komsomol as the winner of the All-Union Socialist Competition in 1974 and was awarded a diploma. In 1977, GVKG them. N. N. Burdenko was awarded a diploma of the 1st degree as the winner of the All-Army review competition for the best medical institution.

Yu. S. Kravkov paid great attention to the implementation of the GVKG them. N. N. Burdenko of modern working methods. In 1976, a laboratory of medical cybernetics equipped with a Minsk-32 computer was created in the hospital. In a number of its divisions, computer-related terminals were installed, which made it possible to conduct work in an interactive mode. With the help of computers, problems were solved both in control automation and diagnostic. In 1983, the laboratory began re-equipping the laboratory with more modern EU 1045 machines, overhaul of a separate two-story building for the laboratory was carried out.

Yu. S. Kravkov recognized the need to improve the organization of research work of employees of the GVKG them. N. N. Burdenko . In 1978, a scientific and methodological information center was created in the hospital. His organization contributed to a significant upsurge in the methodological and research work of the hospital, improving its connection with research institutions in Moscow, as well as with the district military hospitals.

One of the main concerns of Yu. S. Kravkov in the 2nd half of the 1970s. was the construction of a new 7-story surgical building GVKG them. N. N. Burdenko , which came into operation in 1981. It housed the hospital emergency departments, traumatology, gynecology, neurosurgery and cavity surgery (each with 50 seats), as well as the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery departments (each with 25 seats) ) On the 7th floor of the building, an operating department was established, numbering 8 operating rooms (including one X-ray room).

Under the leadership of Yu. S. Kravkov, the technical equipment of the GVKG im. N. N. Burdenko . By 1983, its diagnostic and treatment departments used about 3800 various apparatuses and devices. The hospital was equipped with endoscopic equipment, an x-ray computer-tomograph, equipment and instruments for microsurgery, devices for monitoring the condition of patients, an x-ray urological room, an x-ray room with an Arkoscop device were deployed. The conditions for electron microscopy were created. All this significantly increased the hospital's capabilities in diagnosis and treatment, including the most difficult patients. Along with this, the hospital used the experience of centralizing treatment, diagnostic and household services. Over the years of leadership of S. S. Kravkov, the main indicators of the hospital's work have changed. The average duration of treatment was reduced by 8 days, mortality decreased, and treatment outcomes improved.

By 1983, in the GVKG them. N. N. Burdenko had 40 beds, 4 of which were intensive care and intensive care units. Each department was highly specialized. Almost all types of medical care were organized in them, with the exception of pediatric, obstetric and tuberculosis. In addition to beds, there were 20 departments that provided diagnostic and medical (physiotherapy, hyperbaric oxygenation, high energy and physiotherapy exercises) work.

Along with diagnostic and treatment activities, in the 1970-1980s. in the GVKG them. N. N. Burdenko developed a number of problems that had a military medical focus. At the same time, the achievements of chemistry, physics, and electronics were used to the maximum. The scientific activity of the hospital was supervised by the bureau of the scientific and methodological council. In 1983, 9 doctors of medical sciences, 43 candidates of medical sciences, 24 honored doctors of the republics worked at the hospital. About 50 doctors worked at that time on the topics of doctoral and master's theses.
