Biography
Born November 24, 1907 in Lixouri in Kefallinia, Greece, in the family of Maria Manesi and Evangelos Synodinos. Spiridon also had a younger brother. His mother died at a fairly young age. From an early age he sought to serve in the Church.
He graduated from elementary school in his hometown, and secondary in Argostoli . After graduating from high school from 1930 to 1933 he worked as an employee in Rural Security (Αγροτική Ασφάλεια) of the island.
On August 16, 1933, he was ordained deacon by Metropolitan Anthony of Ily (Politis) .
In the same year he entered the Theological Faculty of the University of Athens and was appointed clergyman of the University Church of the Virgin of Kapnikarei . He graduated with honors in January 1938.
November 6, 1938 he was ordained a priest to the University Church of the Virgin Kapnikarei.
He served as a junior secretary, and then as secretary of the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church and as a teacher of the Second evening high school in Athens (Β΄ Νυκτερινό Γυμνάσιο Αθηνών).
On November 15, 1945 he was elected [1] , and on November 18 [1] he was ordained bishop of Apamea, vicar of the Thessaloniki Metropolis .
On January 25, 1951 he was elected Metropolitan of Rhodes .
He died on April 29, 1988, at the age of 79, and was buried on the bishop’s site στο Cemeteries of St. Demetrius.
