Frido Metshk ( n.-puddle Frido Mětšk, October 4, 1916 , Annaberg-Buchholz , Germany - July 9, 1990 , Bautzen , Germany) - Lower Luzhitsky writer, poet, historian, translator, editor and teacher. He wrote in Lower Luzhitsky and German . The founder of the Lower Luzhitsky gymnasium in Cottbus and the first director of the Serbian gymnasium in Bautzen .

Biography
Born on October 4, 1916 in the city of Annaberg-Buchholz. From 1927 to 1936 he studied at the gymnasium of the Holy Cross in Dresden. From 1936 to 1937 he studied at the Higher Pedagogical School in Frankfurt an der Oder . Since 1940 he studied classical philology, history and Slavic studies at Halle-Wittenberg and Jena universities . In 1940, under the leadership of Dmitry Chizhevsky, he wrote a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Sciences in the works of the German theologian Heinrich Milde. Then he worked for a short time as a teacher in Keilhau and Halle. Since 1941, he fought on the Eastern Front. He was in Soviet captivity, where he worked as a lecturer in an anti-fascist school.
In 1947 he returned to Germany. In the same year he founded the Lower Luzhitsky gymnasium in Cottbus. In 1949, he became the first director of the Ludański extended school in Bautzen, which was later renamed the Serbian Gymnasium . Since 1955, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Serbian Ethnic Studies at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR. Since 1959, he headed the Serboluzhitsky Cultural Archive .
In 1986, he retired and lived in Bautzen, where he died on July 9, 1990.
