Description
Small-sized ants of brown color (body length 4-5 mm). Workers head length (HL) 0.69-0.72 mm, head width (HW) 0.63 mm. They are distinguished by long and thin propodeal spines and a long stalk of petiol. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two nodular segments ( petiol and postpetiol). On dorsum of postpetiol about 8 hairs. The species was first described in 1997 by Colombian entomologists F. Fernandez and M. Ben ( Fernández, F .; Baena, ML ; Colombia ), and its valid status was confirmed in 2008 by American worldmecologists Roberto F. Brandao ( Brandao, Carlos RF ) and Rodrigo M. Feitosa ( Feitosa, Rodrigo M. ) during the revision of the genus. The species name is given by the very long stalk of the petiol (compared to other species of this genus) from the Latin words longi + nodus (long + nodule) [1] [2] .
