The 437th Fighter Aviation Regiment began to form in the Dnipropetrovsk Region on August 10, 1941. Further formation continued in the 11th reserve fighter aviation regiment (first in Rostov-on-Don, then in Kirovobad). The final formation and training of the flight crew was completed on February 20, 1942 in the 11th reserve fighter aviation regiment of the Transcaucasian Military District in the city of Kirovobad) on LaGG-3 aircraft.
