The Ezidhana Defense Forces ( Kurd. Hêza Parastina Êzîdxanê - HPÊ) is a paramilitary formation of Iraqi Yezidis. HPŞ was created as a result of an attack by IS terrorists on Sinjar (Shangal) on August 3, 2014. The soldiers of the detachment distinguished themselves in the defense of the Yezidi shrine Sharfadin , as well as in protecting civilians in the Sinjar mountains. Together with the YPG, they ensured the security of the corridor along which civilians left Sinjar, besieged by terrorists. Attempts by terrorists to invade the mountains were thwarted by fighters of the detachment. Repeatedly, HPŞ members organized attacks on terrorist convoys. By decision of the Yezidi commanders and tribal leaders, HPŞ, together with YBŞ (Sinjar Resistance Force), will become the future Yezidi police in Sinjar. The backbone of the detachment consists of Yezidi volunteers, former Peshmerga and former soldiers of the Iraqi army . The chief commander of HPŞ is Haidar Shesho, a former member of the Iraqi parliament who has great authority in Yezidi society.
