In the early summer of 1807 , the Ottomans planned to take Bucharest and regain control of the Danube principalities , knocking Russian troops out of them. Two large Turkish formations were sent to Bucharest, one of which was commanded by Mustafa Pasha. He was met by a Russian detachment led by Miloradovich from Bucharest. A battle took place near the town of Obileshti on June 2, during which the Turkish army was defeated. The Turks lost about 3,000 soldiers killed, the Russians - about 300 soldiers.
The defeat at Obileshti forced the Turkish command to abandon the attack on Bucharest and withdraw beyond the Danube . Along with the victories of Admiral Senyavin in the Dardanelles and Athos battles, she contributed to the beginning of the Russian-Turkish peace negotiations.
