History
On the map of the St. Petersburg province of F.F. Schubert in 1834, the village of Hnilka is mentioned, consisting of 32 peasant households [2] .
GNILKA - the village belongs to the Treasury, the number of inhabitants under the audit: 67 m., 70 g. paragraph [3] . (1838)
The village of Hnilka of 32 courtyards is marked on the map of F. F. Schubert in 1844 [4] .
GNILKA - a village of the State Property Office, on a country road, the number of yards - 33, the number of souls - 82 m. [5] (1856)
ROOT - the state-owned village at the well, the number of yards - 26, the number of inhabitants: 62 m., 64 w. P.; Orthodox chapel [6] . (1862 year)
In the XIX century, the village administratively belonged to the Gorodishchensky volost of the 2nd camp of the Novoladozh district of the St. Petersburg province, at the beginning of the XX century - of the 1st camp.
According to the "Memorial Book of the St. Petersburg Province" for 1905, the village of Hnilka was part of the Prusyn rural society [7] .
According to 1933, the village of Hnilka was part of the Prusyno-Gorsky village council of the Volkhov district [8] .
According to the data of 1966, 1973 and 1990, the village of Hnilka was also part of the Prusinogorsk village council [9] [10] [11] .
In 1997, 18 people lived in the village of Gnilka, Berezhkovskaya volost, in 2002 - 31 people (all Russians) [12] [13] .
In 2007, 20 people were in the village of Hnilka Berezhkovsky SP [14] .

The village is located in the southern part of the district near the highway 41K-022 ( Kirishi - Settlement - Volkhov ).
The distance to the administrative center of the settlement is 2 km [14] .
The distance to the nearest railway station Terebochevo is 5.5 km [9] .
