Physical Properties
Palladium tantalum forms crystals of several modifications:
- α-TaPd, tetragonal syngony , space group P 4 / mmm , cell parameters a = 0.3279 nm, c = 0.6036 nm, Z = 2, a structure like titanium CuTi , exists at a temperature below 1410 ° С;
- β-TaPd, cubic syngony , space group F m 3 m , cell parameters a = 0.4006 nm, Z = 2, exist in the temperature range 1550 ÷ 1720 ° С [1] [2] [3] .
α-TaPd is formed by the peritectic reaction at a temperature of 1410 ° С, β-TaPd melts congruently at a temperature of ≈2000 ° С and eutectoidly decomposes at a temperature of ≈1550 ° С [1] .
