Biography
E. M. Braverman graduated with a silver medal from Moscow Secondary School No. 401 (1949) [1] , then from the Moscow Energy Institute in 1955 . He worked at the Tsvetmetavtomatika design bureau. He completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Automation and Telemechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR under the scientific supervision of M. A. Aizerman (1960-1963), after which he defended the dissertation of the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences and continued to work as a researcher at this institute, specializing in pattern recognition problems . He was one of the leading researchers in this field in the USSR. [2] Developed a geometric approach in pattern recognition, proposed the "compactness hypothesis" (1960) [3] . Together with M. A. Aizerman and L. I. Rozonoer, he became the creator of the method of potential functions in recognition theory, a classical method in the theory of machine learning.
In 1965 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University (engineering stream). He was engaged in a linguistic approach to the recognition of complex objects and the theory of data analysis (class of methods for extreme grouping of parameters). Since 1968, he concentrated on the issues of mathematical economics , the model of functioning of the economic system at nonequilibrium prices. He translated a number of scientific monographs from English into Russian.
Since 1969 - Professor, Department of Engineering Cybernetics, Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys .
Sons - mathematicians Alexander Braverman and Maxim Braverman (professor at Northeastern University in Boston). [four]
