Biography
Born in the castle of Lichtenstein in the Kingdom of Württemberg. The second son of William II von Urach (1864-1928), 2nd Duke of von Urach (1869-1928), and Amalia of Bavaria (1865-1912).
In 1917, Karl graduated from Karl Grammar School in Stuttgart . After graduation, he served as a lieutenant in the First World War. In 1918 he was seriously injured. After the war, Karl Gero von Urach studied architecture, and later worked as an architect in Munich.
In 1928, after the death of his father, Karl Gero inherited the ducal title of von Urach, as his older brother Wilhelm entered into an morganatic marriage and lost the right to inherit. For most of his life, Wilhelm von Urach was the director of Mercedes Benz, had two daughters.
In 1935, Carlo Gero von Urach entered the Wehrmacht and became a Hauptmann . In 1940 he received the rank of major . Until 1945, he served mainly at the army headquarters in Tübingen and Ulm .
On June 20, 1940, Karl Hero married Countess Gabriele von Waldburg -Trauchburg (1910-2005), daughter of Prince George von Waldburg (1867-1918). The marriage was childless.
On August 15, 1981, Karl Gero von Urach died in Lichtenstein Castle . The title of Duke von Urach was inherited by his nephew Karl Anselm von Urach (born 1955 ), the eldest son of Prince Eberhard von Urach ( 1907 - 1969 ) and grandson of William II von Urach .
