Club career
Kevin is a graduate of the LASK club. At first he played for youth and reserve teams, but after LASK's departure from the Austrian Bundesliga , he got a chance at the base. On July 29, 2011, in a match against Forst , Wimmer made his debut in the first Austrian League [2] . On September 30, in a duel against Forst, Kevin scored his first goal for the team [3] .
In the summer of 2012, Kevin moved to the German Cologne . On August 5, in his match against Eintracht from Braunschweig, he made his debut in the Second Bundesliga [4] . In the first season, Wimmer fought for a place at the base and appeared only in 9 matches, but in the second season he became one of the leaders of the “goats” defense. November 29, 2013 in a fight against St. Pauli , he scored his first goal for Cologne [5] . At the end of the season, Wimmer helped the team enter the elite. On August 23, 2014, in his match against Hamburg , he made his debut in the Bundesliga [6] .
In the summer of 2015, Wimmer switched to English Tottenham Hotspur . The transfer amount was 7 million euros. With the “spurs” he signed a five-year contract [7] . On January 23, 2016, in his match against Crystal Palace , he made his debut in the English Premier League , replacing Jan Vertongen in the second half [8] . At the end of the season, Kevin helped the “spurs” take third place in the championship. In the summer of 2017, Wimmer moved to Stoke City , signing a five-year contract. The amount of transfer amounted to 18 million pounds [9] . September 9, in a match against Manchester United , he made his debut for a new team [10] .
May 27, 2018 Wimmer rented with the right to buy German “ Hannover 96 " [11] . On August 25, in a match against Werder Bremen , he made his debut for a new team [12] .
International Career
November 19, 2013 in a friendly match against the US team, Wimmer made his debut in the Austrian team [13] .
In the summer of 2016, Wimmer was included in the application for the national team to participate in the European Championship in France. In the tournament, he played in a match against the Portuguese team [14] .
