“Vasilisa” is a Russian historical film of 2013, as well as an eponymous mini-television series of the same series edited using the same source material, directed by Anton Sivers . The picture tells about the life of the participant of the Patriotic War of 1812 Vasilisa Kozhina .

It was originally planned that the film will be directed by Dmitry Meskhiev , the film will be released in 2012 and will be dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 [1] , however, the implementation of the plan dragged on until 2014, and Anton Sivers became the director.
A special screening of the film took place in April 2014 in the Crimea, and then in St. Petersburg as part of the festival “Vivat, Russian Cinema!”. The movie premiered in theaters on December 4, 2014.
Content
Story
The serf peasant Vasilisa is in a romantic relationship with the nobleman Ivan Ryazanov, who promises her freedom and marriage, but from childhood he was engaged to a girl of his circle. The headman of the village of Kozhin marries to Vasilisa. Misinterpreting Ryazanov’s explanation with his fiancée, Vasilisa agrees to a marriage with the headman. Soon after, the Patriotic War begins. Peasants face abuse by French soldiers and the inaction of their landowner. Vasilisa decides to fight and organizes the peasants into a partisan detachment that attacks French wagons, inflicting significant damage on them.
