Epirus in Antiquity
Pelium , also Pellius or Pelium ( Greek Πήλιον, Πέλλιον or Πήλεον ) is a fortified settlement of the Greek Chaonic [1] tribe of Dassarets [2] [3] [4] , located on the site of the present Gorn Goritsa [5] , in Albania , on ancient border between Epirus and Illyria . Pelium was later used as the Macedonian border fortress. [6] [7] In 335 BC. n e., immediately after the battle of Pelium , he was occupied by the Dardanians led by Kleitos Dardansky , who fought with Glavkos Tavlantsky against Alexander the Great . [8] [9]
