They released their debut single as Cole Alexander (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Ben Eberbaugh (lead guitar), Jared Swilley (bass) and Joe Bradley (drums). After the second single and several out of control performances, which led to the fact that they were forbidden to perform at some venues in Georgia, they attracted the attention of Greg Shaw from Bomp! Recorded Records. Black Lips recorded their debut album of the same name in mid-2002, but before it was released, Eberbaugh died in a car accident. The death came a few days before the upcoming tour along the East Coast and the Midwest, in which the three of them went, suggesting that Eberbaugh would want just such a continuation. Their second album, " We Did Not Know" (2004) was released with the participation of new guitarist Jack Hines. After the release of the album Hines left the band, Ian St. came to replace him. Pé. The next album Let It Bloom (2005) was released on the new label In The Red Records. The live recording of Los Valientes del Mundo Nuevo and the fourth album, Good Bad Not Evil, appeared in 2007, both via Vice Records. The fifth album 200 Million Thousand followed in 2009, also on Vice Records. In early 2010, the band goes to the studio with producer Mark Ronson to work on the sixth album, Arabia Mountain , which will be released in June 2011. After an unsuccessful attempt to get Phil Spector or Mark Ronson as producers on the next album, Black Lips invite Patrick Carney (drummer of The Black Keys ) and Tommy Brenneck (member of Dap Kings) to work on the seventh album Underneath the Rainbow (2014).
