The 6th fighter aviation regiment was formed on the basis of the 26th separate fighter aviation squadron of the 33rd aviation brigade of the OKDVA Air Force in the Special Red Banner Far Eastern Army at Garovka airfield ( Khabarovsk ) [1] .

Rename a shelf

On July 2, 1944, the 6th Fighter Aviation Regiment was transformed into the 149th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment for the exemplary performance of combat missions and the courage and heroism shown on the basis of the Order of the NPO of the USSR [2] .
