Club career

Throughout his football career, he played for Toyo Industries , which he joined in 1965 after graduating . As part of the team, five times became the champion of the country ( 1965 , 1966 , 1967 , 1968 and 1970 ). Ogi became the top scorer in 1966 and ended up in the symbolic national team of the Japanese championship for 7 consecutive years (1966-1972). He was also recognized as the footballer of the year in Japan in 1965 and 1970. In 1976 he completed his playing career. In the championship he spent 163 matches and scored 57 goals.

Team Career

On August 8, 1963, when Ogie was a student at Chuo University, he made his debut for the Japanese national team against Malaysia . He was called up to the national team for the Olympics in Tokyo. In the first game of the tournament against Argentina, he scored a winning goal [2] . As part of the national team of Japan, he won the bronze medals of the Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City (1968) . Augie also participated in the Asian Games of 1966 , 1970 and 1974 , qualifying matches for the World Cup in 1970 and 1974 . In total, he spent 62 games for the national team and scored 11 goals, completing performances in 1976 [3] .

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career, Ogi became the head coach of Toyo Industries in 1977 as the successor to Ikuo Matsumoto . The next season, the club took fourth place in the championship, and the following years kept in the middle of the tournament table. Left the club in 1980.

In 2006, he was inducted .
