The Romanian census of 2011 ( rum. Recensământul populației din 2011 ) was the third national census after the fall of the communist regime in Romania . It was conducted by the State Statistics Committee of Romania (Institutul Național de Statistică (INS)). The initial census was planned for March 12-21, 2011, but due to budgetary problems it was postponed to October 2011 [1] . The first results were published in January 2012.
The final results are as follows [2] :
- Stable population: 20,121,641 people, of which 10,333,064 are women (51.4%)
- Total holdings: 7,086,717;
- Total number of houses (including other dwellings): 8.5 million, of which:
- 8 450 607 standard dwellings and 8 149 other dwellings;
- Total buildings: 5.1 million (5 117 940)
