Etymology
The name of the aul comes from the word "quinab", which is translated from the Avar language means "warm." This is explained by the fact that the village is protected on both sides by mountains.
Geography
The village of Khinub is geographically located on the left bank of the Tlenserukh river (the left tributary of the Karakoysu ), on a small mountain hill and borders other villages: Irib , Magar, Khurukh, Chunib of the Kesersky section of the Charodinsky district.
History
Hinub, like other Avar villages, has an ancient history, the roots of which come from the distant past. The presence of an ancient cemetery and wall inscriptions preserved on ancient buildings suggests that the village arose about 600-700 years ago. As in all of Dagestan, the inhabitants of the village formerly professed a pagan religion, which was later supplanted by Christianity. This is confirmed by the presence in the village of a Christian cemetery. The islamization of the population occurred quite late, approximately in the XVII-XVIII centuries, which is associated primarily with the inaccessibility of the aul.
Previously, the village was part of the Tlenceruh Free Society. The life of the Khinubians was built according to the norms of adat, partially the Sharia was applied. All issues were resolved at a rural gathering, on which Dibir and Cadius were elected. During the Caucasian War, the village was part of the North Caucasian imamat of Shamil and was included in Tlencerukh naib. After the end of the war, Naibo was renamed into a district within the Gunibsky District .
In the 30s of the XX century, the first school was built in the village, which operates to this day.
