The 57th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment was formed on February 8, 1943 by renaming the 36th Fighter Aviation Regiment as the Guards Regiment for the exemplary performance of combat missions and the courage and heroism shown on the basis of the Order of the USSR NCO [1] .

- Emirov Valentin Allahiyarovich , squadron commander of the 36th fighter aviation regiment, captain, being the commander of the 926th fighter aviation regiment, was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) by decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on December 13, 1942.
- Azarov Sergei Semenovich , deputy squadron commander of the 57th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 216th Combined Aviation Division of the 4th Air Army of the North Caucasus Front, was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) by Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on September 2, 1943.

Disbandment of the Regiment
In connection with the change in the military doctrine of the USSR, the 57th Guards Fighter Aviation Red Banner Regiment was disbanded on June 01, 1978, all regalia were transferred to the 991st Fighter Aviation Regiment (aero. Besovets , Karelia ).
