Biography

The son of a peasant. In his youth he joined the Communist Party of Poland .

Member of the Second World War. One of the organizers of the Ludova Guard and Ludova Army , in the ranks of which he fought with the German invaders.

After the war, he was a member of the PUWP , worked in leading party positions, was the regional secretary in the city of Nowy Targ . Later he became a member of the party’s voivodship committee in Krakow , was repeatedly elected ambassador (deputy) of the Parliament of the People’s Republic of Poland.

From 1945 he was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Głos Pracy, in 1946-1948 - Echo Krakowa, in 1950 - the literary magazine Dziennik Literacki, and 1952-1989 - Życie Literacke. In 1983 he was elected to the National Committee of the Polish-Soviet Friendship Society.

Creativity

V. Maciek is a prominent writer in the field of ideological propaganda, the author of several books, journalistic and polemical articles aimed at supporting the line of the Communist Party of Poland. Also known for attacks on the press in other socialist countries, criticizing the line of the USSR and the CPSU ( Romania , Yugoslavia ).

The subjects of the works are about the Second World War, partisan battles and everyday life, the exposure of the machinations of capitalism and the bourgeoisie against the people of Poland.
