History
Finding out of Soviet Russia, the Russian philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev , having found shelter in Berlin , continued his activities and, drawing on the experience of the Moscow Free Academy of Spiritual Culture and Russian Religious and Philosophical Societies , became the initiator of the Religious and Philosophical Academy in the Russian Berlin environment, which opened on November 26, 1922. . After Berdyaev moved to Paris in 1924, the Academy changed its address to Paris.
By September 1925, the first issue of the academic journal was prepared. It opened with an editorial entitled “The Spiritual Tasks of Russian Emigration,” in particular proclaiming:
“The Russian emigration is called upon to preserve the continuity of the Russian spiritual culture and, to the best of its ability, to contribute to its creative development. For her, the political task is secondary and derivative, subordinated to the spiritual and religious task. ”
