Biography
Born in Slavyansk in the family of a priest. At the end of the Kharkov Theological Seminary, he was sent in 1798 to the church at the Russian Embassy in London , where he served for 10 years. At this time, he proved himself as a publicist and writer. In 1808 he was appointed Russian consul in Boston , and in 1828 in New York , where he lived until the end of his life.
Periodically came to Russia. In 1815, he was accused by the Americans of interfering in the internal party struggle in the United States and was forced to leave the country. During the time in Russia on September 18, 1817, he was elected a corresponding member of the VOLRS .
