In 1894, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite and was appointed rector of the Constantinople Compound in Moscow with the Church of St. Sergius Abbot of Radonezh in Krapivki . Arrived in Moscow on April 3, 1894 [1] .

In January 1912, in St. Petersburg, as a representative of the Patriarch of Constantinople, he attended the I All-Russian single-faith congress [5] , where he delivered a speech [6] .

On November 21 at the Trinity Compound in Moscow, on the day of the intronization of Patriarch Tikhon, Archimandrite Jacob delivered a welcome speech [7] :

We, the humble representatives of the Holy Churches of the East, from whom the saving light of Christ's faith shone, are full of joy that it has been our rare happiness to personally be present and to be, so to speak, witnesses of a great event: solemn election, God's will, Your Holiness to the glorious the historic Moscow and All-Russian Patriarchal Throne, and that, therefore, we are honored today to bring on behalf of the Eastern Churches our humble greeting to you regarding this election, which is destined to write a new glorious page in the history of both the Russian and, in general, our entire Holy Orthodox Church. <...> You will have <...> fraternal help and love from the venerable Holy Patriarchs of the East, pastoral ties with which from now on, by the grace of God, are renewed and established on new canonical grounds for the benefit of all Orthodoxy in general, acquiring its new cornerstone in the new Russian High Priest and his new defender [8] .

At the beginning of 1919, the housing and land department of the Moscow City Council decided to municipalize the property of the Jerusalem and Constantinople Patriarchates "on the same basis as all church possessions" [9] .

The promises of Archimandrite Jacob were inexpensive. Already in May 1922, he recognized the legitimacy of the newly formed Renovationist Higher Technical Center [3] . In August 1922, Archimandrite Jacob was present as an honorary member of the presidium at the congress of the renovating Living Church in Moscow, at which a demand was put forward "depriving the holy dignity of Patriarch Tikhon as the main culprit of modern church devastation." The congress was also attended by the representative of the Patriarch of Alexandria, Archimandrite Pavel (Katapodis) [10] .

In August 1923, the Russian Renovationists organized the "Holy Synod" led by Metropolitan Evdokim (Meshchersky) . At the same time, the supreme renewal body decided to "restore communication with the foreign Eastern Orthodox Churches." In the updated "Bulletin of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church" it was reported: "At the same time, His Eminence Metropolitan Evdokim noted that on August 7, representatives of the Eastern patriarchs came to him at the Trinity Metochion: Archimandrite Pavel of Constantinople and Archimandrite Pavel. During the return visit, Archimandrite Jacob announced to Metropolitan Yevdokim that all the church changes that had occurred had already been communicated in a favorable sense to the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. ” The Constantinople Department at that time was occupied by Meletius (Metaxakis) [10] .

He died on January 15, 1924 in Moscow [3] . The place of rector of the Constantinople Compound in Moscow was taken by his nephew Vasily (Dimopulo) [10] .
