The 137th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment was formed on April 14, 1944 by renaming the 160th Fighter Aviation Regiment as the Guards Regiment for the exemplary performance of combat missions and the courage and heroism shown on the basis of the Order of the NPO of the USSR [1] .
