Leonid Vladimirovich Makarenkov (born December 23, 1968 ) is a Soviet and Russian military helicopter pilot, test pilot at the V.P. Chkalov State Flight Testing Center of the Ministry of Defense , Colonel . Hero of the Russian Federation ( July 15, 2000 ) [1] .

Biography

Leonid Makarenkov was born in Kostroma . By nationality - Russian .

In 1986 he graduated from high school, after which in the same year he began serving in the Armed Forces of the USSR , enrolling in the Saratov Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots . In 1990 , after graduating from the school, he was sent to serve in the training helicopter regiment of the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots in the Volga Military District , where he successively served as pilot-instructor, senior instructor pilot and flight commander.

In 1998, Makarenkov graduated from the command faculty of the Air Force Academy named after Yu.A. Gagarin . From 1998 to 2002, he served in a separate transport helicopter regiment as part of the United Group of Forces, successively holding the positions of chief of air-fire and tactical training, commander of an air squadron, deputy commander of a separate transport helicopter regiment. Member of the Second Chechen War , performed the tasks of counter-terrorism operations in the North Caucasus region .

On July 15, 2000, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation , Colonel Leonid Vladimirovich Makarenkov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation with the award of the Gold Star medal for the courage and heroism shown during the testing of new aviation equipment.

Since 2002, Leonid Makarenkov has been in flight testing at the V.P. Chkalov State Flight Testing Center . Over the years of work at the center, he went the way of a test pilot to the deputy squadron commander - senior test pilot of a helicopter test squadron of the flight test service of the scientific test department of the test center. In 2004 he graduated from the GLITS Test Pilot Training Center.

Currently, Leonid Vladimirovich continues to serve and lives in the village of Chkalovsky in the Moscow region , located in the city of Shchelkovo .
