Career
Eldouyan made his professional debut with the local club Real Sociedad , but at that time the first goalkeeper of the club was Luis Arkonada . In the 1985/86 season, however, in the first game of La Liga, the Arconade suffered a serious injury. Coach John Toshak entrusted the place to Eldouin, and the Basques finished in seventh place, but with one of the worst goals scored (51 goals in 34 matches).
In the summer of 1986, Elduyen signed a contract with Atletico Madrid , he started as a base player, but was replaced after coming from Abel Resino 's farm club.
Eldouyan spent his best years with Real Burgos , he helped the club from Castile and Leon to remain in the first division for three consecutive seasons. In the 1991/92 season, the club took the best ninth place in its history, Elduyen played in all 38 matches (3338 minutes) and conceded 43 goals. That season, he won the title Footballer of the Year in Spain [1] .
In 1993, after the departure of Burgos from the elite, Eldouyen signed a contract with Deportivo La A Coruña worth about a million pesetas . At that time, the first goalkeeper of “Deportivo” was Francisco Liano , so Elduyen played only three matches in the league for three seasons. Subsequently, he moved to Real Valladolid , where he played with the same frequency, he retired at the age of 35.
After spending 16 seasons in the top division of Spain, Elduayen played in 179 matches. Playing for Burgos, he volunteered for Spain as coach Vicente Mieroy , but in the end he never made his debut for the team. Nevertheless, he played for the youth team and in 1986 even won the European Championship .
