- On August 30, 1756, Empress Elizabeth gave a decree to the Senate "to establish a Russian theater to represent tragedies and comedies." A.P. Sumarokov was appointed director of the theater.
- in 1757, Giovanni Batista Lokatelli came to Petersburg with an opera, ballet and drama troupe, entering the structure of Russian imperial theaters.
