Kakao ( Cocoa , 카카오 ) is a South Korean company formed in October 2014 through the merger of Daum Communications (the operator of the portal Daum , the second most popular in its country) and Kakao Corp. (the developer of KakaoTalk’s most popular instant messaging service in South Korea). At first it was called Daum Kakao ( Taym Kakao , cor. 다음 카카오 ) [1] [2] [3] [4] .
