Rhodamine

The basis of the structure of rhodamine
Rhodamine in the water

Rhodamines are a family of related chemicals, fluoronic dyes. Representative representatives are Rhodamine 6G and Rhodamine B [1] . Rhodamine dyes fluoresce ; simple and inexpensive fluorimetry methods are used to detect them. Rhodamine dyes are used in biotechnology, in methods such as fluorescence microscopy , flow cytometry, and enzyme immunoassay .

Rhodamine dyes are generally toxic and soluble in water, methanol and ethanol .

The fluorescence intensity increases many times when dissolved in organic solvents, for example dimethyl sulfoxide (dimexide), dimethylformamide.
