Stone paper ( English stone paper, rock paper, paper from waste marble, mineral paper, rich mineral paper ) is a paper-like material made from calcium carbonate and low-pressure polyethylene HDPE. It is used as an alternative to paper for the manufacture of leaflets, posters, books, magazines, packages, packaging, wallpaper, labels, plates, trays, containers and many other products.
History
Stone paper was first developed in the late 90s by Taiwan Lung Meng Technology Co. [1] . It is patented in more than 40 countries by the trademarks Rockstock, Terraskin, ViaStone, Kampier, EmanaGreen and others.
Properties
Stone paper is a strong, waterproof, tear-resistant material. It does not require water, acids, bleaching and wood for manufacture, therefore, it can reduce deforestation. Stone paper is suitable for recycling and recycling. It is not decomposed by microorganisms, but in nature it quickly decomposes into basic components. 80% consists of calcium carbonate - one of the most common substances on the planet and 20% of low-pressure polyethylene.
