Shevchenko 's surname is inherited from her Ukrainian father, the name Tanya does not indicate Slavic roots: in the late 1970s it was popular in Germany. Mother - Russian German Vera Küke ( German: Vera Küke ).

Biography
Tanya grew up in a poor family, her grandmother was mainly engaged in her upbringing. She began to practice figure skating at the age of four. At the age of thirteen, she began performing at the German adult championships. By that time, she was training at the Olympic training center in Dortmund , with experienced coach Peter Mayer. The most successful season for Tanya was the 1994 season : champion of Germany, sixth place at the Olympics in Lillehammer and a bronze medal at the world championship in Japan .
As a result of her achievements, Tanya Shevchenko became quite famous, and began to take an active part in the television show. She replaced her coach with Peter Jonas and moved to the federal center for Olympic training of skaters Oberstdorf . Due to injuries and illness, she did not go on ice for more than 19 months.
By the fall of 1997, she returned to big sport. She won two stages of the ISU series in Germany and Japan and, having shown the best free program in her career, she became the second in the series final tournament in Munich . At the 1998 European Championship in Milan, she won the bronze medal, as they say, in her last breath. Personal life
On February 25, 2011, she and her common-law husband Norman Yeshke had a daughter, whom they named Jona. [3]
