Ural Steel (tournament)

Ural Steel is an annual international e-sports tournament for playing World of Tanks , held by Wargaming.net with the support of Uralvagonzavod [1] .

History

The tournament was held for the first time in 2011, and since then has been held annually, gathering the strongest “tank” teams from the CIS countries , Western Europe and Asia [1] . Applications for participation in the debut tournament were submitted by more than 40,000 people. In subsequent years, this figure increased, which indicates a positive trend in the interest of the gaming community in the tournament [2] .

As a rule, a tournament takes place in Moscow , and only once the tournament venue was changed: in 2013 it took place in the homeland of Soviet and Russian tank building - in Nizhny Tagil [1] .

Specialists call the Ural Steel tournament a kind of World of Tanks World Championship, noting the wide scale of the tournament and the high level of participants. In addition to the main, competitive part, the tournament includes a cultural and educational program with a visit to the Central Museum of Armored Arms and Equipment in Kubinka [3] .
