Louis Camille de Lorrain, Prince de Marsan

Louis Camille de Lorrain-Marsan ( December 18, 1725 - April 12, 1780 ) - French nobleman and prince of Lorraine. He was known as Prince de Marsan, the last Count de Marsan (1755-1780). A member of the genus Gizov , the youngest branch of the Lorraine House .

Biography

The youngest son of Charles-Louis de Lorren (1696-1755), Count de Marsan, and Elizabeth de Roclor (1696-1752). His mother was the daughter of Marshal of France Antoine Gaston de Rocloor (1656-1738), Duke de Roclor, and Maria Louise de Laval-Montmorency, and great-granddaughter of the famous Marshal of France Antoine de Roclor (1544-1625).

From childhood he bore the title of Prince de Marsan, was also known as Prince de Puigillay , but never used this title.

His elder brother Gaston de Lorrain (1721-1743), titular Count de Marsan, died of smallpox at the age of 21, leaving no children.

In November 1755, after the death of his father Charles-Louis de Lorraine, Louis Camille, who bore the title of Prince de Marsan, inherited the title of Count de Marsan.

On February 2, 1756, Louis Camille de Lorrain was awarded the Order of the Holy Spirit . His father was also a knight of this order.

June 6, 1758 he received the rank of lieutenant general of the French army.

From 1770 to 1780, he was the royal governor of Provence .

Since 1778, he has been the owner of the Hotel de Baujelen in Paris . Hôtel de Boisgelin (known as Hôtel de La Rochefoucauld-Doudeauville) was sold in 1779 to Marie de Baujelen, the canoness of Remirmont, who later gave it to her brother Jean-de-Dieu-Raymond de Baujelen , Archbishop of Aix.

The eldest sister of Louis Camille, Louise Henrietta Gabrielle de Lorrain became the wife of Godfrey de la Tour d'Auvergne (1728-1792), Duke of Bouillon (1771-1792). His older brother Gaston de Lorren was married to Maria Louise de Rogan , the future teacher of royal children.

Louis Camille de Lorrain died at the Hotel de Bouillon in Paris . The hotel belonged to his son-in-law of the Duke of Bouillon .

Marriage

In 1759 he married Helene Julie, Rosalia Mancini (1740-1780), Mademoiselle de Nevers, daughter of Louis Jules Mancini-Mazarini (1716-1798), the last Duke of Nevers (1768-1789), and Helene Francoise Angelica Philippe de Ponchartren (1715— 1781), the daughter of Jerome Filippier de Ponchartin (1674-1747), Count de Ponchartren, and Helene Rosalia Angelique de L'Obepin (1690-1770). Helene Julie Rosalia Mancini was the widow of Louis Maria Fouquet de Belle-Ile (1732-1758), Count de Gisore, the great-grandson of Nicholas Fouquet . The marriage was childless.
