In the 2012 presidential election, the residents of the canton gave 26.1% of the vote in the 1st round to Francois Hollande versus 25.1% for Marin Le Pen and 23.5% for Nicolas Sarkozy , and Hollande won in the 2nd round in the canton 53.4% of the vote (2007 1st round: Sarkozy - 27.5%, Segolen Royal - 24.0%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 51.9%). In the elections to the National Assembly in 2012 in the 5th constituency of the Air Department, they supported the incumbent deputy, candidate for the Union for the Popular Movement party, Frank Gilard , who received 27.4% of the vote in the 1st round and 57.2% of the vote 2nd round.
