Biography
Elizaveta Yakunina was born on September 1, 1892 in St. Petersburg in a family of immigrants from the peasants.
In 1910–1916 she studied at the Faculty of Ceramics of the School of Industrial Art of Baron Stieglitz, after which she was awarded a medal and a trip to Italy . The trip did not take place because of the First World War . After graduating from college in 1916-1919, she taught drawing at a female gymnasium.
In 1918 she entered the courses of stage performances (KURMASTSEP) under the leadership of Vsevolod Meyerhold . Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin , Boris Almedingen , A. Rykov, Mmkhil Zandin , Yuri Bondi , Peter Morozov , Alexey Gripich taught Elizabeth Yakunina. Vladimir Dmitriev , Boris Erbstein , Lydia Mangubi , and Sergey Priselkov were among Yakunin’s classmates.
