War and Peace (satellite TV channel)

History

The project of the channel "War & Peace" was born in 2000, its ideological inspiration and creator is Vitaly Fedko . Autentic was also listed as a co-founder. However, German partners withdrew from the Russian part of the project due to delays in sublicensing broadcasts. However, Autentic promised to support the distribution of the channel in Germany afterwards. The main content provider for the War & Peace thematic channel is the Korona Film studio , on the basis of which the channel was created. [2]

Broadcasting of the War & Peace channel began in the summer of 2010, simultaneously with two of the most popular satellite platforms at that time: NTV Plus and TricolorTV . The launch of the channel was accompanied by a wide discussion on Internet forums and the support of friendly Web resources.

The complex of technical services for the channel was provided by the company Red Media. [3] NTV-Plus provided the channel with about 600 thousand subscribers. The declared number of subscribers from the Tricolor platform was 250 thousand. This figure was projected to increase to 1 million by the end of the year.

However, by December 1, 2010, the channel interrupted its broadcasting on satellite.

In April 2011, the War & Peace channel returned to the Tricolor TV platform. At the same time, the media group of the same name, which includes a television channel and a film studio, is launching its shares on the MICEX market. Entering the exchange allowed the company to receive additional financing for the development of the channel. In the framework of the resumed broadcasting from mid-October 2011, it is planned to show the expert-analytical program "Game for Russia!" [2]

In 2011, the channel’s broadcasting expanded, an agreement was signed with the Ukrainian cable network MediaCast. By 2013, the audience of the channel in Ukraine was to reach 300 thousand people. [four]

On December 2, 2011, it was announced that the War & Peace television channel had concluded an agreement with the company LGMA ( USA ) to organize broadcasting in New York . It was planned that the media company LGMA will provide a technical platform for broadcasting and will promote the channel as part of a package for the Spanish and Russian-speaking audience in New York.

I see great prospects for this project. In the context of the value crisis in America, people seek alternative visions and understandings of what is happening. The content and general orientation of the War & Peace television channel meet the request of viewers in the USA as well as possible.

However, the planned broadcast in New York did not take place.

On January 1, 2012, the channel stopped broadcasting as part of the Tricolor TV platform. The official reason is a technical malfunction on the side of the channel. [5] However, the broadcast continued on its own website.

Twice the War & Peace television channel began satellite broadcasting and twice went to the Internet. The last time, in July 2014, this was due to a malfunction in the satellite ABS-2. [6]

In 2014, the channel announced the resumption of broadcasting. This time, the company decided not to go to the satellite, but to carry out signal logistics over the Internet . [7]

Says Vitaly Fedko, General Director of the War and Peace Media Group:

Although satellite delivery is convenient, it is expensive. In late December, we began shipping to the SPB TV platform. “On the ground” is significantly, incredibly cheaper. However, additional efforts are needed to increase the recognition of the channel when it exists only in the Internet environment compared to the distribution from the satellite. [6]

The channel is broadcast in SD format, in the future it is supposed to broadcast in HD-quality. Especially for this, the Crown Film studio is developing a format solution that will make it possible to broadcast old films in HD format. At the same time, all the new films and inter-program elements that are being prepared in the film studio for the channel are being created in HD quality.

The channel is distributed both on an individual À La Carte subscription and as part of operator packages. [eight]

You can’t understand for a long time whether this is a new network game embodied in a television format, or the original form of propaganda for a new patriotic movement. And just watching TV directly on the channel is somewhat reassuring - a documentary film with an emphasis on the political component.

The channel’s content filling structure consists of documentary (80%) and feature (12%) films, analytical programs (8%). Of these, in-house content is 25%. A significant part of the programs is purchased from foreign partners under the Branded Blocks scheme, which involves the manufacturer participating in the channel’s revenues in exchange for content. Channel programming is carried out using the Info-Reactor technology - this is a special sequence of films, each of which reflects one of the eight main topics that are interconnected, complementing each other and transmitting a three-dimensional picture of life. "Another 20th century." This includes films about alternative and reasonable views on the events of the past: the secret causes of the First World War and the Russian Revolution , the causes of the Great Depression and the Oil Shock of 1972, and much more.

“Oh Technique! Oh, Arms! ” These are films about technology, technology, innovation , cognitive and “ordinary” types of weapons - about what will become important in our near future.

Advertising

The position of the War & Peace television channel regarding advertising has always been clear: there can be no advertising on the channel. According to the creator and creative director of the channel, Vitaliy Fedko:

Media, the basis of financing, which are advertising revenue - do not need a smart and thinking audience. It is much more difficult for an advanced person to sell something, and advertising for him does not work as efficiently. Therefore, the market has a paradoxical situation, which is supported by mainstream media. At the same time, a layer of people has already emerged who understand that such media simply “brainwash” their brains and look for alternative information on the Internet.
