E-Grocery - the sale of consumer goods (food, beverages, baby food, household chemicals, related products, etc.) on the Internet. [one]
The term was first introduced by Greg Thain & John Bradley in the book Store wars : Online and In-store. Experts call the category “E-Grocery” - late starter (late start) - implying that the wide distribution of sales of these products on the Internet began in comparison with other categories recently.
According to data obtained by the Tesco retail chain , the share of E-Grocery in the food turnover in the UK in 2013 exceeded 9%. Center for Retail Research predicts the growth of the share of E-Grocery by 2015 to 13%. [1] According to data obtained by Canadian consulting company MWPVL (supply chain management consulting), the share of E-Grocery in the US food turnover in 2013 exceeded 3.5%, and by 2023 the share would exceed 11%. [2] Interesting data about the German market E-Grocery in 2013 was published by the Slovak University of Agriculture in its study “E-Grocery, as an innovative channel for the purchase of food for German buyers”. According to their data in 2013, the German E-Grocery market did not exceed 0.2%. In 2013, E-Grocery adds 7% to the turnover of the UK's largest retailer Tesco , Switzerland's largest retailer Migros - 2.5%, Spain's largest retailer Mercadona - 1%, the largest US retailer and Walmart world - 2%. The electronic strategy of Auchan, the market leader in France, allowed for a rapid growth in the share of Internet sales in the network's revenue (from 0.2% in 2010 to 2% in 2013). [five]
According to SPARK-Interfax, the revenue of the Russian leader E-Grocery "Utkonos" network of stores according to RAS in 2012 amounted to 8.9 billion rubles.
Experts at UBS investment bank predict that in 2018–2022 the average increase in the turnover of Russian online trading will drop to 15.4% (in previous years, online sales increased by an average of 23.3% per year), but the fastest growing segment will be food (growth rate will rise to 26.1%). "This sector will be the main goal for investors who want to invest in the Russian Internet commerce in the coming years," analysts at UBS say. [6]

For the first time, the digital experience of buyers who purchase food products via the Internet, using online retailers, has been studied and evaluated in the framework of the research of the Pulse client experience e-grocery rating 2018. [7] ]
Research methodology
Studied online stores of companies engaged in the sale of food, and included:
1. in the TOP-10 ranking of retailers in terms of revenue in 2017 according to the analytic agency Infoline and / or
2. in the TOP-100 rating of the largest online stores in Russia according to the results of 2016 from the research agency Data Insight.
3 stages of researching digital customer experience:
- Exploring the Customer Journey Map - “Buyer's Route”,
- Evaluation of functionality (using a checklist with a list of about 250 functions)
- Analysis of emotional design and determination of the level of trust.
2018 rating
The maximum number of points on the results of the three stages of the study received online store Utkonos - 65.36.
The second place is occupied by Ozon.ru with a score of 60.71.
In third place is the Alphabet of Taste, the final score of which was 59.16.
Rating of services online sales of products 2019
In February 2019, the results of the study of digital customer experience were published - e-grocery rating 2019 [8] .
The research methodology was used was improved - the list of services under study was expanded, the list of functions studied at the second stage exceeded 300 options.
Studied 15 online services for the sale of products:
- classic retailers online: Crossroads , Auchan , Okay , Globus , Globus gourmet , Alphabet of Taste ,
- online stores: Wildberries , Ozon , Platypus, take! , goods ,
- supermarket product delivery services: dostavista.market, igooods , instamart , Savetime .
2019 rating
The maximum number of points - 69.78, received the online platypus hypermarket. The second place is occupied by the goods market with an indicator of 67.40.
In third place is the online store Perekrestok with a score of 64.26.
