Yarmachenko, Nikolai Dmitrievich

Nikolay Dmitrievich Yarmachenko ( September 6, 1928 , the village of Cheremoshna (Kiev region) - May 24, 2010 ) - Ukrainian teacher, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, honored worker of science and technology of Ukraine , academician of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR (1982) [1] , founder and first president of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine , one of the founders and first president of the International Makarenko Association [2] , member of the Presidium of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR, specialist in the field of defectology (signopedagogy), as well as the theory and history of pedagogy.

Biography

From 1947 to 1951 he studied at the Faculty of Defectology at the Kiev State Pedagogical Institute. A. M. Gorky . There he graduated from graduate school (1954) and defended his thesis (1954) [3] , and in 1969 - his doctorate [4] . Both dissertations are devoted to the issues of signopedagogy.

He headed the Department of Defectology and was Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the A.M. Gorky Kiev Pedagogical Institute, Director of the Research Institute of Pedagogy of the Ukrainian SSR, Advisor to the Presidium of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.

Founder of the creation in Ukraine of a scientific school of pedagogues and historians, teachers, author of monographs, textbooks, manuals on the history of pedagogy, psychology, sociology, defectology, learning and upbringing of children with hearing impairments, certain methods of teaching social and natural sciences.

Significant contribution of N. D. Yarmachenko to macarenology , including the creation of the work “Pedagogical activity and the creative heritage of A. S. Makarenko” (Kiev, 1989). ND Yarmachenko (jointly with G. Hillig (Germany) and others) is the founder of the International Makarenko Association (established in Poltava in 1991) and its first leader [2] .
