Biadnason in the Icelandic national team

Biadnason began to play football at home, playing for football schools of various clubs. In 2006, scouts of the Norwegian Viking noticed him and invited him to the team. In the same year, Birkir made his debut in Tippelig . He scored his first goal in a duel against the Ham-Kam club. In 2008, Biadnason on a rental basis moved to Bodø-Glimt . He successfully proved himself during the lease and, having returned to Viking, became one of the key players of the team.

At the end of 2011, Birkir’s contract with the Viking ended and he, as a free agent, transferred to the Liège Standard . On January 22, 2012, in the match against Westerlo , Biadnason made his debut in the Jupe League ^[3] .

Birkir was not a base player and in the starting lineup he left in only four games, so in the summer he went on loan to the Italian “ Pescara ”. On September 1, in a match against Torino , he made his debut in Serie A ^[4] . On December 2, in a duel against Napoli , Biadnason scored his first goal for Pescara ^[5] .

At the end of the season, the club flew to Serie B , but Birkir’s game made a favorable impression on the team owners and they bought the player’s transfer for 900 thousand euros. Biadnason managed to play in one match in the second Italian league and was overbought by Sampdoria for 1.2 million euros. On September 15, in a match against Genoa , he made his debut for a new club ^[6] . Birkir could not win the competition for a place at the base and in the summer of 2014 returned to Pescara.

In the summer of 2015, Birkir moved to the Swiss Basel . The transfer amount amounted to 1.5 million euros. July 27, in a match against Grasshopper , he made his debut in the Swiss Super League ^[7] . On September 26, Biadnason scored his first goal for Basel in a duel against Lugano ^[8] . In matches of the Europa League against the Polish Lech ^[9] and the Italian Fiorentina ^[10] Birkir scored two goals. In 2016, he became the champion of Switzerland as part of Basel.

In early 2017, Biadnason moved to the English Aston Villa , signing a contract for three and a half years ^[11] . On January 31, in a match against Brentford , he made his debut in the Championship ^[12] . On January 1, 2018, Birkir scored his first goal for Aston Villa in a duel against Bristol City ^[13] .

In 2011, Birkir, as part of the Icelandic youth team, took part in the European Youth Championship in Denmark .

On May 29, 2010, in a friendly match against the Andorra national team, Biadnason made his debut in the Iceland national team ^[14] . On May 27, 2012, in a duel against the French national team, Birkir scored his first goal for the national team ^[15] .

March 28, 2015 in the qualifying match of the European Championship 2016 against the national team of Kazakhstan, Biadnason made a “double” ^[16] .

In the summer of 2016, Birkir was included in the application for the national team to participate in the European Championship in France . In the tournament, he played in matches against teams of Portugal ^[17] , Hungary ^[18] , Austria ^[19] , England ^[20] and France ^[21] . In a duel against the Portuguese, Biadnason scored the first goal of Iceland in international tournaments, he also excelled in the 1/4 final match against the French.

In 2018, Biadnason took part in the World Cup in Russia . In the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Nigeria ^[22] , Argentina ^[23] and Croatia ^[24] .
