Career
At the beginning of his career, Damia played for the little-known Catalan club Peralada. In the 2002/03 season, he played in Tercera (fourth Spanish division) for the Valencia reserve team , then spent a year at the Figueres club, which played in Segunda B (third division).
In 2004, Damia moved to Barcelona B , also playing in Segund B. Speaking mainly for the backup squad, he was involved nine times in the games of the main squad of Barcelona , with which he won the Spanish Championship in the 2005/06 season. In January 2006, Damia transferred to Racing on a rental basis, where he became the club's main right-back. For Racing, he played in Example (top division) 18 matches and scored four goals.
In the summer of 2006, Damia transferred to Real Betis , having paid 1 million euros for it. The contract was signed for five years and provided an opportunity for Barcelona to redeem the player’s contract in the next two seasons [1] . Damia completely missed her first season at the new club due to a thigh injury sustained while playing for Racing [2] . In 2007, Damia returned to duty and played for Betis two seasons in Example and then one in Segund.
After an unsuccessful attempt by Betis to return to the Spanish football elite in the summer of 2010, Damia transferred to Osasuna as a free agent, with which he signed a contract for three years [3] . In the next four seasons, he was the main right-back of the team, for which he played more than 120 matches. However, after the departure of Osasuna from Examples following the results of the 2013/14 season, the club management was forced to reduce the cost of salaries for players and allowed Damia to leave the team in the status of a free agent [4] .
In the summer transfer window of 2014, Damia switched to the English Middlesbrough , with whom he signed a two-year contract [5] . After spending only seven games for Middlesbrough, in September 2014, Abella seriously injured his knee [6] , because of which he did not go on the field for more than a year in official matches. In May 2016, Damia left Middlesbrough after the expiration of the contract with the club, deciding to end his career [7] .
