History
KAZ Minerals PLC was formed as a result of the reorganization of Kazakhmys PLC.
On July 23, 2014, the Group announced an agreement to transfer mature assets of the Karaganda, Zhezkazgan and Balkhash production sites to Cuprum Netherlands Holding BV. The reorganization was approved by independent shareholders on August 15, 2014 and, after all terms of the transaction were satisfied, was completed on October 31, 2014.
2016 - The value of the shares of the Kazakhstan copper mining company KAZ Minerals plc. (KAZ.L) grew by 0.89% based on the results of past trading on the London Stock Exchange [1] .
October 31, 2014 - completion of the reorganization of the group . Upon completion of a large-scale reorganization, including the removal of a number of mining, processing, copper and energy assets of the central and Zhezkazgan regions, the Group's profile is shifted to the development of modern low-cost mining operations in Kazakhstan. The company changed its name to KAZ Minerals PLC.
On August 15, 2014, shareholders voted to reorganize the Group, as a result of which a number of mature assets of Zhezkazgan and Central regions are transferred to Cuprum Holdings, the main shareholder of which is Vladimir Kim .
January 7, 2014 - The Group approved the sale of a 50% stake in Ekibastuz GRES-1 in order to concentrate on copper mining and processing
November 11, 2013 - sale of a stake in ENRC . The group announces the sale of a stake in ENRC. As a result of the transaction, the majority of Kazakhmys shares are in free float.
February 2010 - the company completed the sale of a 50% stake in its Ekibastuz SDPP-1 power plant to Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund JSC for $ 681 million. This decision was made directly during the acquisition of this power station in May 2008 year.
January 2010 - financing of growth projects . The group announces the receipt of the first of two unsecured credit lines totaling $ 4.2 billion provided by the China Development Bank to finance growth projects.
October 2005 - Listing on the London Stock Exchange . Kazakhmys shares are listed on the London Stock Exchange at a price of 540 pence per share.
June 1995 - Korean Corporation Samsung launched management of the company. In 1996, Samsung Corporation acquired a 40% stake in Kazakhmys, which it subsequently sold.
1992 - official formation of the company . The government of Kazakhstan has formed a company called Zhezkazgantsvetmet OJSC. As a result of a series of privatization transactions from 1992 to 2002, the Government’s ownership share decreased from 100% to 0%.
Activities
KAZ Minerals Group is focused on the production of copper, and also produces a significant amount of gold, silver and zinc as a by-product.
In 2013, before the reorganization of the Group, the company produced 294 thousand tons of copper in the cathode equivalent, 108 thousand ounces of gold, 14.348 million ounces of silver and 134 thousand tons of zinc in concentrate.
In 2014, production from assets belonging to the KAZ Minerals Group amounted to about 84 thousand tons of cathode copper, 34.6 thousand ounces of gold, 3.4 million ounces of silver and 121 thousand tons of zinc in concentrate.
In 2015, cathode equivalent copper production amounted to 81.1 thousand tons, 94.3 thousand tons of zinc in concentrate, 34.6 thousand ounces of gold and 3.14 million ounces of silver.
In 2016, copper production amounted to 144 thousand tons, 75 thousand tons of zinc in concentrate, 128 thousand ounces of gold and 3,284 thousand ounces of silver.
In 2017, the copper production volume is 259 thousand tons, 58 thousand tons of zinc in concentrate, 179 thousand ounces of gold and 3 506 thousand ounces of silver.

East Region
The Eastern region includes:
- Four underground mines: Orlovsky, Irtyshsky, Yubileyno-Snegirikhinsky and Artemievsky.
- Three concentration plants: Orlovskaya, Belousovskaya and Nikolaevskaya.
Bozymchak, Kyrgyz Republic
The Bozymchak field is located in the southwest of the Kyrgyz Republic , in the Ala-Bukinsky district of the Jalal-Abad region . The average annual production at Bozymchak is expected to be 6 thousand tons of cathode copper and 28 thousand ounces of gold bullion during the life of this deposit.
Growth Projects
The group implements two main growth projects - Bozshakol and Aktogay . The third Koksai project is at the conceptual stage.
Bozshakol is a major mining project of the group located in Pavlodar region. Total ore reserves are 1.17 billion tons with a copper content of 0.36%.
Aktogay , the second major copper mining project of the KAZ Minerals Group, is located in the East Kazakhstan region. The total ore reserves are 1,719 million tons with a copper content of 0.33%.
The Koksai copper deposit is located 234 km from Alma-Ata, close to developed infrastructure. The reserves of the deposit are estimated at 3.4 million tons of copper with an average grade of 0.48%.

The main product of KAZ Minerals is copper.
KAZ Minerals also produces significant volumes of zinc, silver and gold as a by-product.
Income and number of employees
In 2017, gross EBITDA was $ 1.235 billion.
KAZ Minerals employs about 15,000 people, mainly Kazakh citizens.
