Biography
Descended from the Kashubian noble family, known since 1228 [2] . Born in the village Gutsmin ( Khotsimino ), near Pollnov ( Polianow ) in Eastern Pomerania, in the family of Joachim Heinrich von Nazmer, Landrata Schlawe ( Gloriously ), and Barbara von Weier.
He began military service in 1672, taking part in the campaign on the Upper Rhine.
In 1673 he volunteered for the troops of the United Provinces , the following year he was captured by the French. In 1675 he was promoted to the first officer rank. In 1676, as a military engineer, he participated in the siege of Maastricht .
In 1677, Joachim Ernst von Grumbkov , the future First Silesian Life Cuirassier Regiment "The Great Kurfurst", was accepted as a lieutenant to the Brandenburg Service as an "Elite Dragoon Squadron". During the Swedish-Brandenburg War, he participated in the siege of Stettin and subsequent battles, including as adjutant Georg von Derflinger .
Since 1680, the captain. In 1685–1686, first as a volunteer, and then as a member of the Brandenburg contingent, Lieutenant General Schöning , participated in the Great Turkish War . He took part in the siege of Buda . Upon his return, became adjutant-general of the Great Elector .
Formed a regiment of the nobility, called the Grand Musketeers (Grands Mousquetaires), and in 1691 renamed the regiment of gendarmes . With the rank of lieutenant colonel became his first commander.
During the war, the Augsburg League fought with his regiment as part of the troops of William of Orange with the French on the Rhine and in the Netherlands, participated in the sieges of Kaiservert and Bonn, where he was wounded. In 1696, he was promoted to major general.
Especially distinguished in the war for the Spanish inheritance . In the first Gohshtedt battle was captured, but was soon released. In the second battle of Gochstedt (1704) he commanded the Prussian cavalry and was seriously wounded by a bullet in the chest. As a lieutenant general, he participated in the battles of Oudenaarde , where he led a desperate cavalry attack, was wounded several times and barely escaped captivity, and Malplake , in which he commanded the second-line cavalry in the army of the Duke of Marlborough . In 1714 he became a knight of the Order of the Black Eagle . After the capture of Stralsund was promoted to cavalry generals.
In 1728 he became field marshal general.
In total I participated in 31 campaigns, I was in captivity three times.
Was approximate to King Frederick William I. After the failure of the crown prince Friedrich to flee from the country, the king instructed von Natzmer to detain his friend and accomplice, Hans Hermann von Katte . Not wanting to incite an heir against himself, the field marshal gave von Katte three hours to destroy the compromising papers and flee from Prussia. Since he was in no hurry to leave the country, von Natsmer was forced to arrest him. Katte was executed in front of the crown prince, and the courtiers, including von Natsmer, were barely able to dissuade the angry king, who, like Peter I, was going to shoot his son [3] .
While imprisoned in the Kustrin fortress, Friedrich sent von Natsmer a project for the dismemberment of the Commonwealth , which made it possible to connect the lands of Brandenburg and East Prussia , and implemented in 1772 as a result of the First Partition of Poland [4] .
Family
1st wife: Sophia von Vrih (1650-1688), daughter of Joachim von Vrij and sister of General Joachim Friedrich vr Vrih, maid of honor to Princess Sofia Charlotte of Brandenburg. She died in childbirth, the child also died.
2nd wife (11.1704): Charlotte Justina von Gersdorf (died 1763), daughter of Nicolas von Gersdorf, Saxon Privy Councilor, and widow of von Zinzendorf und Pottendorf.
Children:
- Karl Dubislav (died 1737), the chamber junker.
- Heinrich Ernst (died 1739), captain.
Both were single and died before the father. Pomeranian line of the kind of background Natsmer stopped at this. Other branches that owned lands in Saxony and Silesia, gave the Prussian crown ten high- ranking officers during the Franco-Prussian war of 1806–1807, including General Aldwig von Natsmer .
